This Chinese EV is smaller than a golf cart.
A man in Miami recently received a compact electric vehicle shipped from China — and he was pleasantly surprised by what it turned out to be.
The creator behind the YouTube channel EbikeSchool.com has built a following by ordering unusual vehicles from China, testing them, and sharing his honest impressions with viewers.
This time, he was sent a miniature electric car called the Minghong. The vehicle is even smaller than a typical golf cart, yet it features a surprisingly decent interior for its size.
In the video, the blogger shows the EV arriving in a massive shipping crate. Once unboxed, it becomes clear just how tiny the car really is.
He later took the Minghong for a spin around his neighborhood and was impressed by how roomy it felt inside despite its ultra-compact dimensions. He also praised the smooth ride quality.
According to the reviewer, the small Chinese EV can reach speeds of about 30 mph. However, it is not street legal in the United States and is not permitted for use on public roads. During a rain test, the cabin stayed dry, though the single windshield wiper only cleared part of the windshield.
The Miami-based reviewer also made a few cosmetic modifications, adding decorative racing stripes and removing a panda logo badge from the side of the vehicle.
He concluded that the tiny electric car turned out to be better than expected. That said, he emphasized the importance of driving it cautiously and strictly off public roads, especially since the vehicle is not equipped with seat belts.
