A leaked dealer memo hints at the possible price of the upcoming Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC
Ford appears to be preparing the most extreme version of the current S650-generation Mustang yet. A leaked dealer pricing memo circulating online suggests that the upcoming Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC could enter territory no production Mustang has reached before.
According to documents reportedly shared with U.S. dealers, the base version may start at around $103,490. Opting for the Track Pack would push the price to roughly $139,990, while the Track Pack Special Edition could climb to about $170,970 before destination fees are added. If those figures prove accurate, the market would see the first Mustang priced in the same range as some exotic performance cars.
The numbers quickly ignited debate among enthusiasts online. Some longtime fans argue that six-figure pricing betrays the Mustang’s traditional identity as an attainable American performance car. Others counter that limited production, significantly higher performance, and the car’s role as a new flagship make the price easier to justify—especially since Ford is positioning the SC as the spiritual successor to the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
For comparison, the last GT500 sold in 2022 for roughly $80,000, which works out to about $88,000 in 2026 dollars—well below the rumored entry point for the Dark Horse SC.
The conversation intensified earlier this year when VIN 001 of the model crossed the auction block for $1.25 million in January. Auction results like that often reflect collector hype more than real-world pricing, however, and Ford has not officially confirmed the leaked numbers. With production still ahead, the company could still adjust the final pricing strategy.
Even so, the leak hints at a clear direction. Ford appears to be pushing the Mustang further upmarket, turning the Dark Horse SC into more than just another muscle car. Instead, it’s being positioned as a limited, high-performance halo product. Whether the Mustang faithful embrace that move remains to be seen—but if the leaked figures hold true, the SC will easily become the most expensive Mustang ever built.
