Spy photographers caught the 2027 Nissan Kicks again in America, hinting at a rugged new trim.
The 2027 Nissan Kicks has been spotted once again testing on public roads in the United States, but this time the buzz isn’t about the test itself—it’s about what the prototype suggests. Seen in Tennessee wearing manufacturer plates and light camouflage, the crossover appears to be hiding changes typically associated with a special edition model. All signs point to Nissan preparing a Rock Creek-style variant for its compact SUV lineup.
Up front, camouflage obscures key details, but it’s clear the bumper, grille, and air intakes are getting a redesign. The rear end hasn’t been ignored either, with covering stretched over the tailgate and rear bumper. The disguise even extends to the roof, where a set of roof rails is already visible. Another interesting detail: Nissan has carefully concealed the wheel design, masking the rims completely.
This prototype’s appearance makes sense in light of a recent auto show in Montreal, where Nissan showcased a Kicks concept with a more rugged, off-road-inspired look. That version also featured roof rails and revised bumper styling, giving it a tougher, more adventure-ready vibe—suggesting it was more than just a one-off show car.
Rock Creek trims already exist for models like the Rogue and Pathfinder, typically adding a more aggressive appearance with unique wheels and off-road-oriented tires. On this Kicks prototype, however, the tires appear more street-focused, though chunkier rubber could be offered as an option.
Mechanically, don’t expect major changes. The Kicks is likely to retain its standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 141 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
