Rivian Brings Back Its Popular Green Interior — But There’s a Catch

Rivian has officially brought back the sought-after Forest Edge interior for the Rivian R1T and Rivian R1S. The distinctive green cabin with wood trim disappeared after the models were updated two years ago, but it’s now making a return as part of a limited-edition package priced at $9,000.

There’s one major limitation, however: the Forest Edge Pack is only available on dual-motor R1T and R1S models equipped with Rivian’s Max battery pack. That makes the cost of entry significantly higher than before. The R1T Dual Max starts at about $89,000, while the R1S Dual Max begins around $93,000. In other words, buyers aren’t simply paying for a unique interior color — they’re effectively stepping into a fully loaded premium configuration.

The package includes three exterior paint choices: Glacier White, Half Moon Gray, and Forest Green. Unsurprisingly, the green-on-green combination is expected to be the most popular, since many early Rivian fans loved pairing the Forest Green exterior with the original Forest Edge cabin. Rivian also bundles in a dark-out appearance package with 22-inch black wheels and black exterior trim. Buyers who want 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires still need to add the separate All-Terrain Package.

Inside, the upgrades go beyond upholstery and brown ash wood accents. The package also adds Rivian’s dynamic glass roof and premium audio system. On the R1T pickup, buyers additionally get an onboard air compressor integrated into the utility panel, an inflation kit, Gear Guard accessory mounts, and a power-operated tonneau cover with weather protection. In the R1S SUV, the compressor is relocated to the cargo area.

Performance isn’t exactly basic, either. The Dual Max R1T produces 533 horsepower and delivers an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 420 miles. Buyers can unlock a Performance Upgrade for an additional $5,000, boosting output to 665 horsepower while adding three extra drive modes. The R1S delivers the same power figures, although range drops slightly to about 410 miles.

Rivian appears to be using the return of Forest Edge as a way to push customers toward pricier R1 configurations. For buyers, that creates a mixed value proposition: the package undeniably looks upscale and could help future resale value, but Rivian’s $2,500 Autonomy+ driver-assistance system still isn’t included.
