Aboard officially names its flagship T4 travel trailer, revealing detailed specifications, smart features, and an $80,000 starting price.
The highly anticipated travel trailer from startup Aboard RV has finally moved beyond the concept stage. After months of teasers and public appearances, the company has released the official name—Aboard T4—along with complete specifications that offer a much clearer look at what this hybrid-electric camper brings to the growing off-grid RV market.
Aboard RV is one of the industry's newest players. The company completed its Pre-Series A funding round in May 2026, providing the resources needed to advance its flagship trailer through prototype development, validation testing, and its first public appearances.
The trailer first surfaced as a concept in March before making its official debut in May. Aboard showcased an early prototype online and at regional trade shows, where it drew significant attention from RV enthusiasts.
Now, the company has followed up with the trailer's official name and a detailed technical breakdown, giving prospective buyers a better understanding of what sets the T4 apart.
Aboard describes the T4 as "the only travel trailer that combines a hybrid-electric powertrain, an intelligent on-board range extender, and smart towing technology in a single purpose-built platform." The company also promotes it as a unique RV thanks to its integrated technology, off-grid capabilities, and comfort-focused design.
While those claims make for effective marketing, the T4 is not alone in this segment. It arrives as manufacturers increasingly shift from fully electric towable RVs to extended-range electric (EREV) trailers, a configuration many consider more practical thanks to greater flexibility and reduced range concerns.
Even without the marketing language, the T4 stands out as a compelling option for buyers looking for a self-sufficient travel trailer designed for extended off-grid adventures.
The newly released specifications explain why.
The trailer measures 23 feet 8 inches long and 8 feet wide. It has a dry weight of 6,500 pounds, a cargo carrying capacity of 1,000 pounds, and an 800-pound tongue weight.
Water capacity includes 52 gallons of fresh water, 35 gallons of gray water, and 30 gallons of black water. The electrical system provides both 120-volt and 240-volt outlets, supports AC and DC fast charging, delivers instant hot water, and uses a heat pump HVAC system for both heating and air conditioning.
The T4 also features Aboard's Shadow Drive intelligent towing system, which includes remote maneuvering and automatic leveling. Other chassis highlights include electro-mechanical brakes with ABS, an independent suspension system, and a powered rear liftgate.
One newly revealed feature is the bathroom's separate exterior entrance on the passenger side. That layout allows the space to double as a mudroom, making it easier to keep dirt and wet gear from being tracked through the living area.
Previously announced features remain unchanged, including the reinforced integrated chassis and the trailer's extended-range hybrid-electric powertrain.
Unlike a conventional travel trailer, the T4 is engineered to operate as a largely self-contained vehicle. It can provide its own propulsion assistance, maneuver itself into campsites, and operate independently using onboard batteries, solar charging, and its integrated generator. The system is even designed to supply power back to the tow vehicle when needed.
Built on a fully integrated dual-axle chassis, the trailer has a maximum gross weight of 7,500 pounds.
Power comes from a 200-kWh hybrid system that combines a 41-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with an onboard generator serving as a range extender. Earlier information listed the generator at 60 kW, but Aboard now rates it at 50 kW.
That power system supports everything onboard, including the climate control system and the electric motors that drive the trailer's wheels for towing assistance and low-speed maneuvering while parking. Owners will also be able to monitor and control the trailer through a dedicated smartphone app.
The interior layout remains unchanged from earlier previews. Convertible dinettes at the front and rear become queen-size beds, while the kitchen and bathroom occupy the center section of the trailer. The rear liftgate folds down to create a private outdoor deck and also provides easier access to the cargo area, which can serve as storage for outdoor equipment.
The kitchen includes an induction cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, and even a wine cooler, emphasizing the company's focus on combining off-grid capability with residential-style comfort.
Aboard says the T4 is aimed at adventure travelers, remote workers, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking extended off-grid capability without giving up modern conveniences, connectivity, or reliability.
The Aboard T4 carries a starting price of $80,000 before optional equipment. The company has not yet detailed standard equipment or available option packages. Deliveries are currently scheduled to begin in late 2026, although that timeline appears ambitious considering the trailer has not yet entered full-scale production.
