Urban Automotive transformed the Defender 110 Hard Top into a carbon-fiber pickup with a completely redesigned body.
Land Rover never put a pickup version of the new Defender into production, despite years of speculation following the SUV's debut in 2019. Now, British tuner Urban Automotive has filled that gap with the Widetrack Avontur, a two-door carbon-fiber pickup created to celebrate the company's 10th anniversary. The project is based on the commercial Defender 110 Hard Top.
The donor vehicle underwent an extensive transformation. Urban Automotive removed the rear body section and rear doors, replacing them with an open cargo bed made entirely from carbon fiber. The bed features a modular tie-down system, an integrated bottle holder, and a fully functional tailgate. Removing part of the vehicle's original structure also required additional reinforcement, so engineers installed a custom roll cage along with extra chassis bracing. In total, the conversion includes more than 36 unique components, ranging from wide fender flares and body panels to a redesigned hood and rear spoiler.
The name Avontur wasn't chosen by accident. A similar Defender pickup based on the longer Defender 130 was previously introduced by Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs, which recently joined Urban Automotive under the AM Group umbrella.
Urban's version, however, takes a more aggressive approach. Built on the shorter Defender 110 platform, it eliminates the rear doors entirely and rides on massive 23-inch wheels. Pricing hasn't been announced, but a limited-production carbon-fiber conversion like this is expected to command a premium.
Alongside the pickup, Urban Automotive also unveiled a styling package for the flagship Defender OCTA. The upgrade includes a vented carbon-fiber hood, a front splitter, wider fender flares, a larger rear spoiler, a carbon-fiber spare tire cover, and redesigned exhaust outlets. Completing the package are exclusive 23-inch forged Vossen wheels finished in gold. Every exterior component is made from exposed carbon fiber with a weave pattern reminiscent of Mansory's signature designs. Orders for the body kit are already being accepted.
