Hotomobil’s redesigned Ronin XL adds length, power, and comfort while remaining remarkably compact, lightweight, and versatile.
"Mobile living in style" is the promise Hotomobil makes across its lineup, from truck campers and motorhomes to pop-up campers. That philosophy carries directly into the all-new Ronin XL, a compact motorhome designed to pack a surprising amount of functionality into a small footprint.
Hotomobil may not yet be a familiar name to many international buyers, but the Turkish company has established a presence beyond its home market. With deep roots in the yachting industry, the brand focuses on modern nomads and adventurers who want comfort, style, and versatility without settling for conventional RV designs.
For the sixth year in a row, Hotomobil appeared at the 2026 Dusseldorf Caravan Salon, where it introduced the 2027 Ronin XL. Calling it new is an understatement: the motorhome has undergone such a thorough redesign that it bears little resemblance to its predecessor, even though it remains rooted in the company’s best-known RV model.
Hotomobil describes the Ronin as a "legend," presenting the latest generation as that legend’s "return" to the spotlight with "more space, More power, more road [but the] same restless soul." The first-generation Ronin arrived in 2015 and remained in production through 2021, when the second generation, known as the Ronin XL, took over.
That version was sold in more than 28 countries and received the European Design Award. Production continued until last year, making 2026 the beginning of a new chapter for the model.
The latest Ronin XL gets three chassis choices, an additional 50 cm (19.6 inches) of exterior length, more powerful engines, and a substantially upgraded interior. Despite its dimensions, the motorhome can accommodate three or four adults, although space is decidedly tight. Hotomobil has also focused on reducing dependence on the grid, improving efficiency, and combining low weight with durable construction.
The new Ronin XL made its public debut in Dusseldorf, where the full video tour below was filmed. Even a wide-angle lens has trouble disguising just how small this motorhome is. Among European motorhomes, it sits at the extremely compact end of the spectrum while still managing to fit an impressive amount of equipment and living space inside.
The Dusseldorf display vehicle uses a Fiat Scudo chassis, while buyers can also choose an Opel Vivaro or Citroen Jumpy. Power comes from a 2.2 MultiJet4 engine producing 150 hp and paired with a manual transmission, with upgrades available.
The motorhome measures only 5.6 meters (18.3 feet) long and 2.07 meters (6.8 feet) wide. Inside, there are 2 full meters (6.5 feet) of headroom.
With so little exterior length to work with, accommodating more than two sleepers requires a cabover bed. The Ronin XL uses a compact alcove above the cab, while its rounded front gives the motorhome an unusually distinctive appearance.
There is a clear tradeoff for keeping the dimensions so tight. The interior feels cramped even with two people aboard, as the tour demonstrates, and four occupants would make the limited space considerably more crowded. Virtually every area has been compressed, leaving little room to move around.
The body is built around a monocoque fiberglass shell. Flush-mounted framed windows incorporate bug screens and blackouts, while the exterior also features a flush-mounted entry door, a rear storage compartment, and two opening skylights. One skylight sits directly above the alcove bed, helping bring ventilation and daylight into the enclosed sleeping area.
The floor plan places a U-shaped dinette at the rear, with the kitchen and bathroom occupying the middle section. The dinette converts into another bed, giving the motorhome additional sleeping capacity.
Space is particularly limited in the central living areas. Opening the bathroom door blocks access to the rear section, while the compact galley has essentially no countertop available for food preparation.
The interior finishes, however, give the small cabin a distinctly upscale feel. The U-shaped dinette uses automotive-style upholstery, a solid adjustable table, and overhead laminated cabinetry finished with elegant black hardware.
The tiny kitchen includes a black stainless steel sink, a black folding faucet, and a dark wood cutting-board insert. Cooking and heating are handled by a Wallas 1200 two-in-one two-burner cooker and heater, a system commonly associated with yachts.
Storage beneath the kitchen includes full-extension drawers with solid construction and soft-close hinges. Opposite the galley sits a 12V refrigerator with a small freezer, fitted into the space between the dinette and bathroom.
The bathroom is another example of how much Hotomobil has managed to fit into the available space. It includes a cassette toilet, two large mirrors, and a medicine cabinet concealed behind one of them. There is also an L-shaped vanity with integrated storage, a raised porcelain bowl, additional storage above the toilet, a separate shower, and an opening window.
Access to the cabover bed is provided by a removable ladder. The sleeping area is large enough for two adults, while its opening skylight provides ventilation and natural light.
A compact closet beside the bed provides room for jackets. An optional 20-inch TV can be fitted into the cubby above the closet, where it can be viewed from either the bed or the dinette.
The displayed motorhome is equipped with an Octoopi Van digital command panel, a Dometic manual awning, soft-touch ceilings and walls, and 20-mm (0.8-inch) Thermo Effect insulation. The insulation gives the motorhome an all-season rating, while a 220V Truma Therme water heater handles hot water.
The display vehicle also carries a 200 Ah lithium battery, a 1000W inverter, and a 205W solar panel with a charge controller. Water capacity includes 100 liters (26.4 gallons) of fresh water and 50 liters (13 gallons) of gray water.
Maximum gross weight is 3,100 kg (6,834 lbs), allowing the Ronin XL to be driven with a standard B Category license. Hotomobil lists an impressive payload capacity of 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs).
Pre-orders for the 2027 Ronin XL are now open, although Hotomobil has not yet published a starting price. Visitors to Dusseldorf can purchase the motorhome from €59,200, equivalent to approximately $68,900 at the current exchange rate. The displayed vehicle, equipped with special equipment, totals €75,830, or about $88,200.
