The Toyota Innova is set for a facelift after four years on the market, with styling and interior updates expected.
Toyota is preparing a minor update for the third-generation Innova, which arrived on the market in 2022. A camouflaged prototype of the three-row minivan has already been spotted undergoing road tests in India, revealing some of the changes planned for the exterior and interior. The updated model is expected to retain its seven-seat cabin and current powertrain lineup.
The Toyota Innova first debuted in 2004 as a family vehicle for Asian markets. The third generation arrived in 2022 with a seven-seat cabin and a stronger focus on family-oriented use. In 2026, Toyota is preparing an update for the current version after roughly four years of production.
One of the key changes reportedly planned for the facelifted minivan is a redesigned grille. New LED headlights and a sportier front bumper are also expected. The lower section of the bumper will feature a matte silver protective trim piece, while the overall front-end design will take on a more rugged appearance.
The test vehicle's exterior will reportedly draw inspiration from the current Toyota Hilux, giving the family minivan a fresh look and a more rugged, off-road-inspired character.
The interior will also receive some updates. The current version features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch central touchscreen. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and T-Connect.
The central display on the test vehicle was covered by camouflage, suggesting Toyota could be preparing a larger screen, although its exact specifications have not yet been revealed.
The cabin layout will remain unchanged at 2+2+3. Higher trim levels feature second-row captain's chairs with power adjustments and leg rests.
Other available features include a power-operated panoramic roof and wireless charging pads. The update could also bring higher-quality interior materials and additional features aimed at improving passenger comfort.
The powertrain lineup is expected to remain largely unchanged. The Innova will continue to be offered with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain.
The hybrid version is paired with an E-CVT transmission. Its combined output is rated at 186 horsepower, while claimed fuel economy reaches 48.9 mpg.
Japanese media recently published a report about the potential launch of another Toyota minivan. Unlike the Innova, it was reportedly intended to compete with the Mitsubishi Delica, but for reasons that remain unclear, it never entered series production.
