Ineos is expanding its Grenadier lineup with a limited-run special edition inspired by boating, coastal adventures, and life on the water.
British automaker Ineos Automotive is continuing to ramp up production and expand its lineup. Following record first-half sales, with Grenadier orders up nearly 15% year over year, the company has unveiled another special edition of its no-nonsense off-road SUV. This time, it's aimed at drivers who feel most at home on the water.
Called the Helmsman, the new edition takes its name from the person who steers a ship. The theme, however, is less about navigation and more about an outdoor lifestyle: towing a boat to the launch ramp, carrying kayaks on the roof, or heading to the coast with all the necessary gear.
The standard Grenadier is already equipped to handle these adventures, but Ineos has added some nautical-inspired styling to give the Helmsman a distinct identity.
Color choices are central to the package. Alongside the familiar Eldoret Blue and Scottish White finishes, buyers can choose Whiteout Blue metallic, a deep shade previously available only through the company's bespoke Arcane Works division. It's this rich blue finish that features prominently in the official photos. The roof can be ordered in Inky Black or white, creating a contrasting two-tone look.
The exterior also gets the Dark Exterior Pack, which adds a black grille, dark protective trim, and matte-black roof rails. Other standard features include tinted rear windows, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and locking wheel nuts. Discreet Helmsman badges complete the package, setting this version apart from the regular Grenadier.
Inside, the cabin pairs black leather upholstery with oyster-colored accents, a combination exclusive to the special edition. Heated seats, a premium audio system, and the Smooth Pack come standard. The latter includes ambient interior lighting, front parking sensors, and additional power outlets.
Underneath the styling changes, the Helmsman remains mechanically identical to the standard Grenadier. Power comes from BMW's 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, rated at 282 horsepower and paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Four-wheel drive is standard, along with a low-range transfer case and locking differentials. The body-on-frame construction, solid axles, and generous ground clearance remain unchanged, preserving the off-road capability that defines the Grenadier.
In other words, the Helmsman is primarily a cosmetic upgrade rather than a mechanical one. Ineos is betting that distinctive styling and exclusive equipment will appeal to buyers who want a rugged SUV with a more specialized look.
UK pricing starts at approximately $95,000, based on the announced starting price of £71,000. Ineos has not disclosed how many Helmsman models will be built, but the company says production will be limited to a specific period.
The Helmsman is also just the first in a planned series of special editions. Ineos has hinted that future versions will draw inspiration from other elements and environments, suggesting more distinctive takes on the Grenadier are on the way.
Commenting on the launch, Ineos Automotive Global Sales Director Ségri Sardjien said the Grenadier was designed to be equally capable at work and at play.
That philosophy fits the Helmsman perfectly. Whether it's towing a boat, hauling kayaks, or tackling challenging trails on the way to the water, the new edition sticks to the Grenadier's established formula while adding a nautical twist.
