A Ferrari Testarossa has been discovered in France after reportedly sitting untouched for around 20 years. The iconic sports car was found on the grounds of a villa in Cannes, covered with a sheet and blanket and surrounded by old belongings.

Photos of the discovery were shared by The Rustyle Oxyde, a social media account dedicated to abandoned cars in France, as well as local photographer Jacques Le Barbier.

The Ferrari is located in a spot where getting it out may prove difficult. Photos show flat tires, while the body has apparently spent years without adequate protection from the elements.

The exact length of time the car has been sitting there remains unknown. One local commenter claimed it had been abandoned for 20 years, while another suggested it had been there for more than 26 years. No information has emerged about the supercar's owner or why it was left at the property and forgotten for decades.

The Ferrari Testarossa debuted in 1984 and quickly became one of the brand's most recognizable models, thanks to its distinctive side air intakes and wide body.

Designed by Pininfarina, the Testarossa was powered by a 4.9-liter flat-12 engine producing 390 horsepower. It became an enduring symbol of 1980s performance cars. More than 7,000 examples were built, making surviving cars particularly desirable among collectors.

The future of the newly discovered Ferrari in Cannes remains uncertain. If the owner can be located and agrees to sell, the car could undergo a restoration before heading to a classic supercar auction, where it would likely attract considerable interest from collectors.

A similar case occurred in 2022, when a 1989 Ferrari Testarossa that had spent 19 years in a garage went under the hammer. The car had approximately 13,670 miles on the odometer and was in considerably better condition than the recently discovered Ferrari in France. It sold for nearly $100,000, based on the reported sale price of almost 100,000 euros.
