Nissan continues to stir up interest in the next, third generation of the Leaf electric car. The premiere of the model will take place in June.

The first official images of the new Nissan Leaf without camouflage were published back in March. Today, Nissan has released a few more pictures and a promo video. Additionally, the company shared some fresh details about the third-generation model.

The premiere is promised on June 18, but there are a couple of nuances

Interestingly, some European consumer websites of the brand already have a page announcing the new Leaf. In fact, just a couple of days ago, there was a countdown to the premiere on those sites. Pages for Nissan's Czech and Slovak divisions still have the date: the presentation appears to be scheduled for June 18.

In the new generation, the Nissan Leaf has transformed from a hatchback into a crossover with a coupe-like silhouette. It is stated that the drag coefficient of the SUV is 0.26 for the Japan and US version and 0.25 for the European specification (the current hatchback is 0.28). The difference is explained by the "unique" wheels and mirror housings on the "Old World" Leaf.

Other features of the new Leaf, common to all regions, include fang-like headlights combined with a light bar, retractable door handles, and active grille shutters. Furthermore, the SUV has a panoramic electrochromic roof. Full interior photos have yet to be released. However, it is clear that large screens are installed on the dashboard and multimedia system.

It is known that the third generation Nissan Leaf is based on the CMF-EV platform, on which the current Nissan Ariya electric crossover is also built. But other details about the hardware have not yet been disclosed.

According to insider information, the "third" Leaf will become a donor for Mitsubishi's electric car. The model with "three diamonds" is planned to be sold in the United States.
