Kia is officially preparing to launch the new EV5 electric crossover in South Korea: pre-orders start in July and the first deliveries are scheduled for the end of August. Initially developed for the Chinese market, the model will now also be presented in other countries due to high interest, including Korea.

Compact in class but spacious inside, the EV5 measures 4615 mm in length — slightly shorter than the Sportage, yet wider and taller, providing a sense of volume in the cabin. The electric vehicle is built on the E-GMP platform from Kia EV3 and will feature batteries up to 81.4 kWh, delivering a range of up to 500 km according to Korean standards.

Technically, the EV5 promises a lot: Highway Driving Assist 2 system, remote parking assistant RSPA 2, V2G support, and the proprietary ccNC multimedia complex with three screens.

Given the expected price range of 39.9 to 46.6 million won (approximately $29–34,000), the EV5 looks like a strong contender in the mass segment. With Kia actively developing its electric lineup from EV2 to EV9, the new model could well take a bestseller position within the family.
