Now the Title of Most Malfunctioning Brand is not with BMW: an American Brand Tops the Negative Rating

Ford faces defects again in Mach-E electric crossovers.

Ford is recalling part of the Mustang Mach-E, produced in May 2022, due to overheating of the main battery contactors. This concerns models with extended range capabilities: overheating may occur during rapid charging or aggressive acceleration, leading to sparking and deformation of contact surfaces. As a result, there may be a loss of traction or a contactor failure.

This is an extension of the previously existing campaign 23V687. Previously, the problem was attempted to be solved by replacing the high-voltage distribution block, however, as it turned out, some outdated parts still made it into production from May 25 to 27, 2022. Ford has recorded 22 warranty cases, but no accidents have been reported.

The company will replace the unit free of charge in the affected vehicles, and customer letters will begin to be sent out by July 18. It is telling that despite technological malfunctions, sales of the classic Mustang in the USA in the first half of 2025 surpassed Mach-E — 23,551 against 21,785 cars. The reason — a pause in Mach-E sales due to another recall related to door locks.

It should be noted that for the first 7 months of the current year, Ford recorded the highest number of recalls among automakers. And another Mustang recall has been added to the collection.

Recall, Ford was previously at the center of a large-scale recall campaign in the American market—the company is recalling more than 200 thousand vehicles due to problems with the operation of the proprietary SYNC multimedia system. Read all the details in the article: in the USA Ford recalls more than 200 thousand vehicles due to a malfunction in the multimedia system.

According to official data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall will affect a total of 200,061 vehicles.
