At the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, Frank van Meel, head of BMW M division, made an intriguing announcement: by the end of 2025, the company will present a special version of the M850i. The production run will be limited, and details are not yet disclosed — insiders suggest it will be a farewell gesture in the history of the 8 Series.

Currently, the M850i continues to be produced in three variants: coupe, convertible, and four-door Gran Coupe. Which of them will receive the exclusive version remains a mystery. In the U.S., the model has already been updated to the 2026 version: prices start at $110,575 for the coupe and Gran Coupe, while the convertible is priced at $120,275.

Rumor has it that after 2026, the production of the 8 Series will be completely halted. There is currently no direct successor planned for the legendary lineup, although BMW might introduce an electric Gran Coupe with the same index in the future.

Previously, fans speculated that the Skytop and Speedtop special editions based on the M8 would be the last in the series. However, another limited edition is being prepared — this time for the M850i. It is expected to feature a unique design by BMW Individual, rare colors, and a luxurious interior finish.

Van Meel also hinted that by the end of the year, the brand will unveil other exclusive models — including a version to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 3 Series. Details remain cloaked in mystery, but one thing is clear: BMW is betting on collector's editions before turning a new page in its history.
