Toyota has officially announced the arrival of the 2025 Hiace in Brazil, marking its entry into the country’s light commercial van segment.
Toyota has officially confirmed the launch of the 2025 Hiace in Brazil, expanding its presence in the market for light commercial vehicles and panel vans. The model has been a global success for more than five decades, with over six million units sold across 150 countries.
In Brazil, the Hiace debuts as the DX AT minibus version with 15+1 seats, priced at 364,990 reais. Cargo van and refrigerated variants will follow in November, while an ambulance version is expected in early 2026, pending additional certifications. The pricing is highly competitive — especially considering that the base Fiat Ducato costs around 375,990 reais.
The Hiace is powered by the proven 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine from the Hilux, delivering 174 horsepower. It’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, providing solid performance even when fully loaded. The suspension is tailored for commercial use, with MacPherson struts up front and coil-spring rear axle. All four wheels feature disc brakes. According to Brazil’s Inmetro, fuel economy is rated at 8.5 km/l in the city and 9.8 km/l on the highway. Measuring 2.28 meters tall, the Hiace can easily fit into standard garages. Dimensions include 5,915 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width (excluding mirrors), and a 3,860 mm wheelbase. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels with 235/65R16C tires, has a curb weight of about 2,640 kg, and offers a payload capacity of 1,180 kg with a gross vehicle weight of 3,820 kg.
Toyota offers a 5-year/200,000 km warranty for private owners, with the “Toyota 10” program extending coverage to 10 years. Buyers also get the first three scheduled services for free and fixed maintenance pricing through the sixth service. Toyota’s dealer network is already equipped to service the new van, with spare parts available in 97% of cases.
