Stellantis is recalling about 375,000 plug-in hybrid Jeeps due to a fire risk linked to Samsung SDI battery packs.
Stellantis has announced a global recall of roughly 375,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUVs following 19 reported fires traced to defective Samsung SDI batteries. The automaker is urging owners to park their vehicles outdoors and avoid charging them until the issue is resolved.
The recall affects Jeep Wrangler 4xe models built between 2020 and 2025, and Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles manufactured from 2022 through 2026. About 320,000 of the recalled SUVs are in the United States. In a filing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Stellantis reported 19 fire incidents and one injury, though no further details were provided.
According to U.S. safety regulators, the issue stems from faulty components within the high-voltage battery packs. Damage to internal separators could increase the risk of short circuits and subsequent fires.
