According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), metal debris may have been left inside the engine during manufacturing, which could interfere with its operation.

A finalized fix is still in development, and dealers will begin repairs once Toyota approves the official remedy. The recall applies to vehicles built for the American market, and all work will be performed at no cost to owners.

The issue comes at a time when NHTSA is increasing oversight of manufacturing quality and tightening safety standards. For Toyota, this marks the second major U.S. recall in recent months, making the news particularly significant for the brand.
