At the Guangzhou auto show, BMW showcased the Vision Neue Klasse X, a concept signaling the next generation of the brand’s electric SUVs. Built on the global Neue Klasse platform—the foundation of the production iX3—the concept represents a completely reimagined approach to interior architecture, aerodynamics, and electronics. The brand’s signature Panoramic Vision takes center stage inside: images are projected across the full width of the windshield, turning it into a seamless information layer.

The cabin embraces minimalism. A narrow instrument panel, a “floating” central display, and layered materials create a sense of open space. Door panels and seats reflect BMW’s new design direction, blending soft fabrics, sculpted forms, and functional zones.

The Vision Neue Klasse X features sixth-generation BMW eDrive electronics. Thanks to its new battery and inverter architecture, just ten minutes of charging provides roughly 186 miles of range. Overall range is up 30% compared to current models, and energy storage density has improved by 20%.

Aerodynamics also play a key role: the concept is 20% more efficient than today’s BMW SUVs. Powertrain and driver-assistance systems are managed by four computing units—the “superbrains” of BMW—that will eventually be integrated into a single system.

BMW confirms that production Neue Klasse models will support bidirectional charging, turning vehicles into potential home energy sources. The Vision Neue Klasse X isn’t just a prototype—it’s a direct glimpse into BMW’s electric future.
