Gas Monkey Garage, the Texas shop known for its wild builds, unveiled an ultra-powerful take on the classic Chevrolet Chevelle in Las Vegas.
Gas Monkey Garage, the Texas outfit famous for its one-off creations, rolled out a radically reimagined Chevrolet Chevelle at an event in Las Vegas. The muscle car, originally assembled back in 1970, now rides on an all-new chassis, carries a completely redesigned interior, and packs a 1,200-horsepower powertrain. The shop isn’t putting the custom build up for sale — it already has an owner. The super-Chevelle was built for the CEO of System X, a partner company specializing in protective coatings.
The team named the creation Synister, and very little of the donor car remains. The coupe received a newly fabricated body, chassis, cabin, and engine. Compared with the original, the restomod sits lower, wears a wider stance, and features a bespoke metal-machined grille and headlight surrounds.
Underneath, Synister uses a fully independent suspension engineered by SpeedTech Performance. The company says the setup balances track-ready handling with the comfort needed for long road trips. One of the visual calling cards of the build is the pair of QA1 rear shocks mounted visibly inside the cabin. The car also carries Wilwood brakes and HRE wheels.
Power comes from a 6.2-liter Corvette C7 V8 fitted with a supercharger, custom headers, and a new exhaust system. Output sits at 1,200 horsepower, and the builders say adding another 200 hp wouldn’t be difficult if the owner ever wants more.
Inside, everything has been reworked as thoroughly as the exterior. The cabin features limited-edition Sparco seats with carbon-fiber frames and a high-end Audison Thesis audio system — finishing touches for a muscle car that’s been completely reborn.
