Porsche continues winter testing of the all-electric Boxster.
The debut of the next-generation Porsche Boxster roadster is expected between 2026 and 2027.
Porsche is pushing ahead with the final phase of testing for the all-electric Boxster. New spy photos have captured a prototype of the roadster undergoing winter testing on public roads in Northern Europe. The model is expected to make its official debut sometime in 2026 or 2027, alongside the electric Porsche Cayman.
The latest images show headlights that appear close to production-spec, featuring the distinctive lighting signatures seen on Porsche’s newest models. At the rear, the fake exhaust-style trim has disappeared, and a charging port is now clearly visible. The car also features a full-width LED taillight bar, a design element shared with other current Porsche vehicles. The prototype is fitted with a roll bar, suggesting the car may also be used for high-speed testing at the Nürburgring.
The electric Boxster will be built on Porsche’s PPE platform. While full technical specifications have not yet been released, the lineup is expected to include both single-motor and dual-motor versions, including an all-wheel-drive configuration. Porsche has emphasized that significant effort has gone into tuning the chassis and powertrain to preserve the brand’s trademark handling and driving feel.
Previously, Porsche noted that the future 718 lineup will not be limited exclusively to electric models. Looking ahead, the company plans to offer gasoline-powered versions as well, adapting the PPE platform to support internal combustion engines. The electric Boxster is seen as one of the key players in the sports car segment heading into the 2026 model year.
