Jaguar and Land Rover issue urgent recall over risk of passenger airbag failure
Jaguar Land Rover has announced a vehicle recall due to a potential defect involving the front passenger airbag. The recall affects four models in Japan: the Range Rover Evoque, Evoque PHEV, Jaguar E-PACE, and E-PACE PHEV. Vehicles built between September 2020 and October 2024 are included, with a total of 4,716 cars subject to inspection and repair.
According to the manufacturer, the issue stems from a production defect in which the passenger airbag may have been improperly folded during installation. As a result, the airbag could deploy incorrectly or even rupture in a crash, failing to provide adequate protection. There is also a risk of hot gas escaping during deployment, which could potentially cause burns to the passenger.
Jaguar Land Rover will replace the faulty airbags free of charge in all affected vehicles. So far, no accidents or injuries related to this defect have been reported.
