Signature Autosports is developing an off-road Porsche 911 restomod designed for long-distance adventures beyond paved roads everywhere.
Signature Autosports has unveiled the Meridian 911, an ambitious off-road interpretation of the classic Porsche 911. For now, the vehicle exists only as a series of renderings, but the company says it is being developed as a true overlanding machine capable of tackling long-distance travel on rough roads and challenging terrain.
The project is based on a generation of the 911 with deep roots in rally competition. Compared with the donor car, the Meridian 911 receives extensive chassis upgrades, including a long-travel suspension system with revised control-arm geometry and adjustable shock absorbers. The changes significantly increase ground clearance. The off-road package also includes heavy-duty underbody protection, all-terrain tires, and a roof rack equipped with auxiliary LED driving lights.
Power comes from a modified 3.8-liter flat-six engine rated at 365 horsepower. To reach that output, the engine receives revised cylinder heads, new pistons, camshafts, and an upgraded intake manifold. The build also features Clewett individual throttle bodies, which the company says enhance both performance and the engine's distinctive sound. Compression has been increased to 11.4:1.
Inside, Signature Autosports is taking a different approach from many modern performance cars by emphasizing an analog driving experience. Rather than filling the dashboard with touchscreen displays, the Meridian 911 will feature traditional analog gauges that the company believes better complement the mechanical character of the sports car.
Development of the first running Meridian 911 prototypes is already underway. Signature Autosports says every stage of the build—from engine development and metal fabrication to electrical work and interior upholstery—will be completed in-house without outside contractors. The finished vehicle is scheduled to make its debut in August. The company plans to produce the Meridian 911 in limited numbers, although production volume and pricing have not yet been announced.
