The next-generation Honda Fit will debut in late 2027 with a larger body and a new hybrid system.
The next-generation Honda Fit is expected to go on sale in late 2027 or early 2028 alongside a major update to the HR-V, according to Japanese media. The compact hatchback will get larger dimensions, more aggressive styling, a new e hybrid system, and S+ Shift technology.
The Honda Fit debuted in 2001 and became one of the brand's key compact models. The car is known as the Jazz in some overseas markets. The current-generation Fit debuted in 2019 and continued the concept of a compact car focused on making efficient use of interior space.
According to Japanese media, the new-generation Honda Fit will get slightly larger body dimensions and significant exterior changes. Instead of its familiar softer appearance, the car will feature more aggressive design elements and possibly flush door handles.
The front end will look wider thanks to a redesigned bumper, while the body will have a lower stance. These design changes are intended to give the compact hatchback a more dynamic character.
Changes are also expected inside the cabin. The Fit will get an 11.4-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are also expected, while voice control will use artificial intelligence technology.
An increase in wheelbase should have a positive effect on second-row passenger space. This will increase legroom, making trips more comfortable.
The biggest changes will come to the powertrain. Japanese media report that the car will adopt a next-generation e hybrid system with a 1.5-liter engine and electric motor. The engine is rumored to have a broader torque and high-rpm range, with output of 110 horsepower. The electric motor will produce 135 horsepower, while peak torque is rated at 255 Nm.
The new e system should transfer torque more efficiently when the engine directly drives the vehicle. According to Japanese media, this could improve fuel economy by up to 40% compared with the current version. Average fuel consumption is expected to be 3.1 liters per 100 km.
Another feature will be Honda S+ Shift technology. It is designed to control speed during acceleration and braking in a way that simulates the feel of gear changes and synchronizes engine sound with the vehicle's speed.
The next-generation Honda Fit is expected to debut sometime between late 2027 and early 2028.
