Porsche has begun testing a new modification of the Taycan electric car at the Nurburgring. Spy photos of the prototype are published by Autoevolution, which suggests that this Taycan will be the most extreme among existing ones. Given that the design of the special version involves the Manthey Racing team and workshop, the electric car is most likely being prepared as a track-oriented modification.
The prototype, judging by the photos, is based on the most powerful version of the Taycan, called the Turbo GT, supplemented by the optional Weissach package. However, the electric car features more aggressive aerodynamic appendages, inspired by the 911 GT3 RS with a kit from Manthey Racing.
The Taycan is equipped, for example, with a different front bumper with enlarged air intakes and canards on the sides, as well as a massive rear wing.
Clearly visible are noticeably widened wheel arches with 21-inch wheels and a racing-style diffuser. In some images, one can see the driver's bucket seat and a roll cage installed instead of the back seat.
According to the publication, the hardcore Taycan will also feature revised suspension, reinforced brakes, and possibly re-tuned power electronics. It is expected that such a set of improvements will be offered for the Taycan Turbo GT as a tuning kit, priced over $100,000. Accordingly, the total cost of the modified electric car will be significantly over $300,000.
It is suggested that Porsche was motivated to develop the most extreme electric car in history by the successes of the Chinese company Xiaomi. Its sedan SU7 Ultra recently became the fastest production electric vehicle at the Nurburgring, and a track prototype based on this model entered the top three absolute leaders on the circuit.
