Tesla has released photos and key specifications of the new Performance version of the Model Y crossover. The updated variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. Pricing has so far been announced only for Europe: in Germany, the new model will cost €61,990 ($ 73 000) — about €9,000 more than the Long Range version.

The European-spec Tesla Model Y Performance is equipped with dual electric motors producing 466 hp. Preliminary figures suggest that the U.S. version will be even more powerful, with output raised to 517 hp.

Despite the boost in performance, the crossover still trails the Model 3 Performance and rivals such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N in 0–100 km/h acceleration. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

A revised battery provides a WLTP range of 580 kilometers. Fast charging for 15 minutes at a high-power station adds more than 240 kilometers of driving range.

In addition to the more powerful motors, the Model Y Performance gets retuned suspension with adaptive dampers and adjustable torque distribution to emphasize rear-wheel bias. The version also features a new carbon-fiber aerodynamic kit and exclusive 21-inch wheels.

Inside, the crossover is fitted with sport seats with integrated headrests and enhanced side bolstering. The infotainment system now includes a larger 16-inch display and a 15-speaker audio setup with a subwoofer.
