Nissan’s special Frontier project is designed to grab attention and spark ideas.
The 2026 Nissan Frontier isn’t a prototype or a one-off concept. It’s a factory-built show truck, assembled entirely from Nissan’s official accessories catalog to showcase just how far a buyer’s imagination—and budget—can go.
The truck is based on the rear-wheel-drive Frontier PRO-X, but it borrows visual and functional elements from both Nissan’s NISMO performance lineup and the off-road-focused PRO-4X. Its mission isn’t to chase records, but to highlight personality and customization potential.
The first thing that stands out is the bold Citrus Strike exterior color, new for the 2026 model year. A unique NISMO topographic graphic covers the hood, while additional LED light modules are mounted along the hood’s leading edge and above the cab.
Under the fenders sit NISMO Off Road Axis Black wheels wrapped in 265/70R17 BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires. Behind the cab, a steel utility rack with multiple mounting points is ready to carry recovery boards, a jack, or gear boxes.
Power comes from Nissan’s familiar naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 (VQ38DD), producing 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Inside, the cabin blends practicality with modern tech.
Many core functions are controlled by physical buttons, a detail likely to appeal to more traditional buyers. A 12.3-inch central touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the front seats feature pronounced bolstering and PRO-X embroidered branding.
Pricing for the 2026 Frontier starts at $33,500, with the Crew Cab PRO-X version beginning at $38,500. This standout Frontier clearly isn’t about spec-sheet comparisons—it’s about emotion, built to make someone stop in a parking lot, point, and say, “That’s exactly the one I want.”
