California Corvette by General Motors: Electric Hypercar Unveiled

An electric concept from GM with daring design and Californian spirit reimagines the Corvette legend in a new style.

California Corvette by General Motors: Electric Hypercar Unveiled

Americans have been introduced to a futuristic conceptual hypercar that pays homage to the Chevrolet Corvette model and...California!

The automotive world has seen the California Corvette from General Motors — a new hypercar concept that looks truly stunning.

The car was developed by the Advanced Design GM studio in Pasadena (California, USA); it represents a reimagining of the timeless Chevy Corvette, filled, as developers say, with a «futuristic southern Californian hue».

It is advertised as a «unique» hypercar, combining the «inspiration of racing simulators» with elements of the Corvette from past years. It is wider — broader than even the Range Rover SUV — with an aggressive front end featuring narrow lighting tapering into a low, aerodynamically «sharp» silhouette.

This concept pays homage to the state of California, and it is electrified (!), but its specifications have yet to be disclosed. GM notes only the presence of a «T-shaped prismatic battery pack», providing a low vehicle stance and better air intake.

It is also a «transformer» — a solid hood that flips forward turns it from a coupe into an «open race car». And considering how low, wide, and overall «aggressive» it is, obviously using it on the track, even in a serial variant, is unlikely to be allowed.

GM's Vice President of Global Design Bryan Nesbitt speaks about the new model:

— The California Corvette concept is yet another example of progressive design. We invited several GM studios to present hypercars inspired by the Corvette — the first of which was presented by our UK studio in March.

— The California team has presented an additional development, which pays tribute to the legendary qualities of the Corvette while infusing them with their own unique vision.

By the way, another similar concept car will follow soon!
