General Motors confirms final production date for 2026 Chevrolet Colorado pickup at Missouri assembly plant.
General Motors has finalized the timeline for ending production of the Chevrolet Colorado for the 2026 model year. Assembly of the popular midsize pickup will officially wrap up on October 16, 2026, at GM’s plant in Missouri.
Interestingly, the production cycle for the 2026 model will last about 15 months, longer than the typical 12-month run. The extended schedule is tied to the transition toward the next version of the truck, which is expected to arrive as a 2027 model-year update and could bring a range of revisions.
The 2026 Colorado has already received several updates compared with the current version. These include new trim options, additional appearance packages, and fresh exterior colors. At the same time, some paint choices will be discontinued — including the Sunrise Orange finish.
The pickup continues to be offered in several trims: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2. All versions are powered by a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine producing 310 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Looking ahead, the model is expected to receive a more significant refresh within the next few years. A full facelift could arrive around the 2027 or 2028 model year, as Chevrolet works to keep the truck competitive in the crowded midsize pickup segment.
The Colorado remains an important model in GM’s truck lineup, and the extended production run suggests demand for the pickup remains steady. Still, without a major redesign in the near future, competition in the segment is likely to intensify.
