Koenigsegg’s long-awaited Gemera hypercar is finally entering production, bringing extreme performance to a four-seat layout.
Swedish automaker Koenigsegg has officially confirmed that its Koenigsegg Gemera is now entering full production. First revealed back in 2020, the brand’s groundbreaking four-seat hypercar is finally moving toward customer deliveries after years of development.
Six years after its debut, the Gemera is no longer just a concept. According to the company, assembly is already underway alongside the Koenigsegg CC850, with the upcoming Koenigsegg Sadair Spear set to join the production line soon. Expanded manufacturing capacity has played a key role in bringing the long-delayed model to reality.
At the heart of the Gemera is a hybrid powertrain Koenigsegg calls the Mega-GT system. It combines a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 with three electric motors. Two rear-mounted motors each produce about 500 horsepower, while the front-mounted “Dark Matter” motor delivers an additional 800 horsepower.
Combined output reaches an astonishing 2,300 horsepower and roughly 2,030 lb-ft of torque, placing the Gemera among the most powerful production cars ever built.
The Dark Matter electric motor stands out not just for its power, but also for its lightweight construction. Built using carbon fiber components, it weighs just about 86 pounds, helping keep overall performance razor-sharp.
Power is sent to all four wheels through Koenigsegg’s advanced nine-speed Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission, designed to handle the extreme output while maintaining smooth, rapid shifts.
Performance figures are equally impressive. The Gemera can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 2 seconds, with a top speed well beyond 200 mph.
Despite its hypercar credentials, the Gemera is designed to carry four passengers comfortably. Inside, the cabin features a premium setup, including an 11-speaker audio system, blending high performance with grand touring practicality.
Production will be strictly limited to 300 units, making the Gemera an exclusive addition to Koenigsegg’s lineup. Even after a long road from concept to production, it remains one of the most technologically advanced vehicles the company has ever created — and one of the few hypercars capable of combining extreme speed with everyday usability.
