Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and Ram Trucks Hit With Major Vehicle Recalls Across the U.S.

Thousands of U.S. drivers are affected after Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, and Chrysler announced new nationwide vehicle recalls.

Tesla is recalling more than 218,000 vehicles over a rearview camera problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Drivers can check whether their vehicle is impacted by visiting NHTSA.gov and searching current recall notices.

Tesla recalls four popular models over camera malfunction

Tesla announced a recall affecting 218,868 vehicles, including certain 2017 and 2021-2023 Model 3 sedans, 2020-2023 Model Y SUVs, and 2021-2023 Model S and Model X vehicles running software version 2026.8.6. In some cases, the rearview camera image may appear with a delay after the car is shifted into reverse.

The automaker already released a free over-the-air software update to fix the issue. Notification letters are expected to reach owners by July 3. Tesla customers can contact the company at 1-877-798-3752. The recall reference number is SB-26-00-016.

Mercedes-Benz recalls vehicles after dashboard display failures

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 144,049 vehicles from model years 2024 through 2026, including AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, SL, CLE, and GLC models. The company said the infotainment control unit could unexpectedly reset while driving, causing the instrument panel screen to go blank.

Dealers will install updated software at no cost to owners. Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed by June 26. Mercedes-Benz owners can call MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 for more details. Affected VIN numbers can also be searched on the NHTSA website.

Chrysler recalls Ram trucks

Chrysler is recalling 12,736 2023-2026 Ram 2500 trucks. A software error in the powertrain control module may improperly allow the vehicle speed to exceed the tire speed rating, which can result in a loss of vehicle control.

Dealers will update the powertrain control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 4. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is 43D. Vehicle Identification Numbers involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 14.
