GMC's redesigned 2027 Sierra 1500 brings fresh styling, new V8 engines, and a dramatically upgraded interior.
GMC has unveiled the redesigned 2027 Sierra 1500, giving its best-selling pickup a comprehensive update inside and out. The full-size truck arrives with a revised exterior, a thoroughly modernized cabin, two new V8 engine options, and an expanded lineup that now includes the off-road-focused AT4X. Sales are scheduled to begin before the end of the year, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
The engine lineup now consists of four choices: the TurboMax 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel, an all-new 5.7-liter V8, and a new 6.6-liter V8. GMC has yet to release performance specifications for the two V8s, but every engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Styling has also evolved, with the new Sierra borrowing several design cues from the all-electric Sierra EV. Up front, the pickup features a taller, more upright grille, redesigned lighting, and trim-specific front fascias that give each model its own distinctive appearance.
The biggest changes are found inside the cabin. Higher trim levels can be equipped with as many as three displays across the dashboard. The centerpiece is a new 16.3-inch touchscreen mounted on a sliding mechanism that can move aside to reveal a hidden storage compartment. Front passengers also get an available 11.5-inch display concealed behind a movable panel. GMC has also introduced a redesigned MultiPro center console that can be converted into a mobile workspace.
The lineup will be offered in four trims: Pro, Elevation, AT4, and Denali. GMC also revealed details about the new Sierra AT4X, which is designed for serious off-road use. It comes equipped with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, Multimatic dampers, electronically locking front and rear differentials, a 2-inch suspension lift, a unique hood, a model-specific grille, and a reinforced front bumper. The AEV Edition package will continue to be available.
Sitting at the top of the range is the Sierra Denali Ultimate. It will be powered by the new 6.6-liter V8 and feature more than 60 inches of combined digital displays, including the central touchscreen, passenger display, a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15-inch head-up display, and an 8.5-inch digital rearview mirror. Standard equipment will also include a 16-speaker Bose Premium Series audio system, authentic open-pore wood trim, and a three-year subscription to Super Cruise hands-free driving technology.
GMC says full specifications and pricing for the 2027 Sierra 1500 will be announced closer to the truck's on-sale date. For reference, the 2026 Sierra 1500 currently starts at $41,095 in the U.S., while the AT4X and Denali Ultimate trims are priced in the mid-$80,000 range.
