The updated Lexus LX has debuted in the U.S. with a hybrid powertrain added to its off-road-focused version, along with revised styling, interior updates, and trim changes.
The updated 2027 Lexus LX will arrive in the U.S. in seven versions, priced from $109,050. As part of the refresh, the Japanese automaker revised the equipment on several trims, adding red brake calipers, a digital rearview mirror, dark interior trim, and other options. Top trims now get power rear seats with automatic seatback folding.

As before, the Lexus LX is based on the GA-F platform. The vehicle uses a three-section frame. Lexus engineers removed the spare tire, replacing it with a battery. This allowed the automaker to preserve the vehicle's geometric proportions, so adding the hybrid system did not affect the Japanese model's off-road capability.
The Lexus LX comes standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter engine producing up to 409 hp. It is designed for use both on paved roads and off-road. The next trim adds a hybrid powertrain based on the same 3.4-liter engine. Combined output reaches 457 hp. The two turbochargers provide steady and consistent acceleration.
The Lexus LX is the first vehicle from the Japanese brand with a hybrid system that combines a generator and starter. The starter provides independent engine ignition, while the generator powers the 12-volt battery. As a result, the vehicle can continue moving if the hybrid system fails. The electric motor also supplements the low-range gearing, helping the Lexus LX handle off-road situations that require precise throttle control, including dirt roads, rocks, and other terrain.
The hybrid system has a waterproof design. Like the base engine, it is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Japanese model comes standard with a limited-slip center differential and adaptive suspension that can adjust ground clearance.
Additional equipment includes a surround-view camera system, off-road cruise control, hill descent control that regulates hydraulic brake pressure, an AC inverter, a premium 25-speaker audio system, two touchscreens, Lexus' proprietary driver-assistance system, and other options. The seat upholstery depends on the selected version.
