Lexus has officially unveiled the lightly updated 2027 GX, which retains its design and powertrain while adding advanced safety and off-road assistance systems.
The 2027 Lexus GX has changed in a way that many fans were likely hoping for. The Japanese automaker has made minor updates to the SUV while retaining its design, construction, and engine lineup. The vehicle continues to use a body-on-frame chassis. Prices for the new Lexus GX start at $69,085.

Under the hood, the Japanese model has a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged engine producing up to 349 hp and paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The SUV continues to use the GA-F platform, which Lexus says increases body rigidity and improves handling. Buyers can also get adaptive variable suspension.
The Lexus GX comes standard with four-wheel drive, which continuously distributes torque between the two axles through a limited-slip center differential. It helps prevent wheelspin and makes the vehicle's behavior more predictable during acceleration. While driving, the differential also improves stability.
Top trims add a mechanical-locking rear differential, activated by a switch on the center console. It improves off-road capability in difficult conditions by sending torque to the wheel with better traction. On these versions, the suspension can also raise the vehicle by nearly 1.6 inches, making it easier to tackle rocky climbs and descents.
Top trims also get the E-KDSS system, which locks or unlocks the stabilizer bars depending on driving conditions, steering angle, speed, and other parameters. This allows the wheels to move up and down independently, for example, reducing body roll. When low range is engaged, Crawl Control activates, allowing the vehicle to maintain a constant speed.
The Japanese model comes with a 14-inch touchscreen that displays video from the surround-view cameras. The SUV is also equipped with a premium 21-speaker audio system, navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and 12 cupholders. The cabin has seven seats, and even the rear seats are available with ventilation. The Lexus GX also gets the latest version of Toyota's safety suite, including dynamic cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, proactive driving assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, emergency steering assist, and other systems.
