The extreme six-wheel-drive Jeep Gladiator Maximus 6x6, built as a one-off, is now headed to a U.S. auction.
The new Maximus 6x6 made its debut in early September. The project was developed by Maxximus Industries, with no involvement from Stellantis or Jeep.
The truck shares much of its design with the standard Gladiator, although several details set it apart from the original. Even the cab has been extensively modified. The 6x6 pickup features a custom hood fitted with water cans, while the body is reinforced with heavy-duty bumpers designed by Maxximus.
Engineers also added custom chromoly-steel side steps. Inside, the Gladiator received a carbon-fiber steering wheel and a custom trailer brake system. A hands-free communication system is standard equipment.
A full-size roof rack sits above the cab, carrying a full-size spare tire and a long light bar equipped with multiple lamps. The rack is built from high-strength chromoly tubing.
Underneath, the pickup rides on a specially engineered 9-inch center axle with its own output shaft. The setup is designed to distribute power evenly between the rear wheels. Up front, the truck uses a reinforced long-travel suspension with four-link geometry and coilovers.
The suspension also incorporates custom dual-rate springs, adjustable remote-reservoir shocks and pneumatic bump stops. The combination was engineered to handle a wide range of off-road terrain.
Every suspension mounting point is reinforced to withstand heavy loads and impacts. Engineers further strengthened the mounting points with removable joints. To improve off-road capability, the Maximus rides on 42-inch all-terrain tires.
Despite the extensive modifications, the pickup retains its original Jeep powertrain. The truck is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter engine producing up to 289 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all six wheels.
The Maximus 6x6 is now being offered at a U.S. auction with an estimated value of $184,900. The final price will be determined when bidding ends. Only one example was built.
