Official photos of Volkswagen Sagitar L - the Chinese version of the Jetta sedan is ready for launch — with a new face and improved interior.
Volkswagen continues to update its key models, and next in line is the Jetta 2025. In China, the restyled version will be sold under the name Sagitar L, and recently fresh official images have been released, supplementing the leaks from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China database.
What has changed? Visually, the sedan looks noticeably more solid. The front section has been redesigned: the new grille now flows directly into the headlights, visually widening the car — a technique long tested on the ID family models. Hidden door handles, not typical for this segment before, are now trending here as well.
The dimensions have slightly increased but remain noticeable: length — 4812 mm, width — 1813 mm, height — 1472 mm. The wheelbase remains at 2731 mm, as in the previous version. It still uses the MQB platform, familiar from many VW models. Visually, the Jetta has elongated and looks more mature — especially compared to the previous generation.
The rear section has also been upgraded. Instead of separate taillights, there's a single light strip across the entire width of the trunk, with the license plate positioned lower in the bumper. This design resembles the latest solutions from Audi and gives the sedan a slightly more premium appearance.
What's under the hood? A 1.5-liter EA211 Evo2 turbo engine with 160 hp (118 kW). This engine is known from other models of the group and is distinguished by high thermal efficiency. It is complemented by a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, common for VW's front-wheel-drive configurations. Such a tandem is aimed at providing balanced dynamics and moderate fuel consumption.
The interior hasn't been officially shown yet, but rumors say the updated Sagitar will feature a new generation digital instrument panel and a media system screen shifted closer to the driver — similar to the new Passat.
The release date is not yet announced, but given the density of information leaks, the premiere and market launch in China might happen in the coming months.
