From June 21 to 22, 2025, the Tokyo International Forum will host the largest audio event in Japan — the OTOTEN exhibition. This year, Mitsubishi will attract special attention at the exhibition by presenting the updated Outlander PHEV, equipped with the new Dynamic Sound Yamaha Ultimate audio system, developed in collaboration with Yamaha Corporation.

The main feature of this premium audio system — is the combination of 12 high-quality speakers and two amplifiers, creating rich, detailed sound across all frequencies. The system adapts to the surrounding conditions: it automatically adjusts volume and tone depending on the vehicle's speed and the level of external noise. Thus, even at high speeds, the driver and passengers can enjoy clear and immersive sound.

Particular attention in the system is paid to the development of the acoustic scene — the sound is carefully calibrated for the interior of the Outlander PHEV. This achieves a "live" sound effect: the cabin can distinguish the smallest nuances of performance — from the click of a pick on a string to the singer's breathing. Mitsubishi claims that this is how a true «personal concert hall on wheels» sounds.

Developers note that excellent sound insulation is provided by updated batteries, reduced engine vibrations, and reinforced door panels, which now serve as acoustic chambers for the speakers. Japanese engineers closed unnecessary gaps and strengthened mounting elements, minimizing «parasitic» noises. Unsurprisingly, about 60% of Outlander buyers choose this system.

The OTOTEN exhibition is held under the auspices of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) and annually gathers leading players in the sound industry, including Hi-Fi, car audio, and home theater brands. In 2025, Mitsubishi will become one of the few car manufacturers who focus not only on driving technologies but also on the quality of sound on the road.

Let's recall that the Outlander PHEV itself remains the flagship of Mitsubishi and one of the first mass-produced all-wheel-drive PHEV crossovers. Since its debut in 2013, the model has sold over 100,000 units in Japan and ranked first in PHEV segment sales in 2024.
