Reliable cars in the secondary market for reasonable money: 5 best cars up to $8,000
With a limited budget for buying a car up to $8,000, it's practically impossible to find a new one, but among used cars, there are worthy and reliable options. Auto30 compiled a selection of the five most reliable cars based on international ratings from TÜV, J.D. Power, and RepairPal.
In the first place is the Toyota Corolla. The legendary sedan is known for minimal maintenance costs and high longevity. For the specified amount, 10th generation versions with mileage up to 120,000 km are available.
Second place goes to the Honda Civic — a reliable and «durable» car with naturally aspirated engines. Optimal are the 2008–2013 modifications, especially with manual transmission or a classic automatic.
The Mazda3 (BL body) holds the third position. Models with 1.6 and 2.0-liter engines are easy to maintain and enjoyable to drive. The only downside — possible corrosion.
Fourth is the Mitsubishi Lancer X, famous for its robust mechanics, «indestructible» engines, and Jatco CVT when properly maintained. Even samples with mileage over 200,000 km remain viable.
The Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent complete the top five — simple, rugged sedans that have proven themselves in taxis and fleets. You can find a version up to the 2017 model year in good condition for $6,000 - $8,000.
