Live sales of the American brand's large pickups with the returned internal combustion engine will begin before the end of this summer.
The current full-size Ram 1500 pickup is offered with six-cylinder engines: the lineup includes a 309-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 and a 3.0-liter inline twin-turbo Hurricane six, with a maximum power of either 426 or 548 hp, depending on the version. However, for the 2026 model year truck, the company has prepared a «new feature»: as previously reported by Kolesa.ru, the lineup sees the return of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine with the eTorque system.
The maximum power of this eight-cylinder engine, as before its discontinuation, is 400 hp, and the torque is 555 Nm. The engine is available in the Big Horn, Express, Laramie, Limited, Longhorn, Rebel, Tradesman, and Warlock models. The payload capacity of such a Ram 1500 pickup is 794 kg, and it can tow up to 5203 kg.
According to Jeff Commor, head of sales at Stellantis in North America, the introduction of the Hemi V8 to the lineup caused a sensation: on the first day, dealers collected over 10,000 pre-orders for the pickup with the returned «feature». For comparison, during the entire second quarter of 2025, the brand sold 51,848 units of the Ram 1500 in the North American market.
As previously reported, each 2026 model year Ram 1500 pickup with the returned Hemi V8 engine will be adorned with a new badge, created by the brand's design team. The manufacturer called it a «symbol of rebellion»: the emblem is located on the front fenders and features a ram's head on the internal combustion engine.
It is known that the price of 2026 model year trucks with the V8 engine on the American market proved to be $1200 higher compared to similar models with the base 309-horsepower engine, equivalent to about 94,900 rubles at the current exchange rate. Live sales of the large pickups with the returned internal combustion engine will start by the end of this summer.
Earlier reports indicated that another V8 engine might return to the Ram 1500 lineup, although the company has not officially confirmed this yet. This concerns the previously discontinued top configuration of the Ram 1500 TRX, which was equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 engine. Its output was 712 hp, with a torque of 881 Nm. It took the pickup 4.5 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to nearly «one hundred» (to 96.6 km/h), and its top speed was 190 km/h.
To recap, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, equipped with a hybrid system, is expected to enter the American market in the future. It includes two electric motors (total output of 663 hp and 833 Nm), a 3.6-liter V6 engine functioning as a generator without mechanical connection to the wheels, and a traction battery with a capacity of 92 kWh. Its total range in hybrid mode is 1110 km. The latest data suggest that this truck will go on sale in the first quarter of next year.
