Chinese automaker Changan is preparing to debut its new mid-size electric crossover, the Deepal S07.
Changan will unveil the Deepal S07 on September 17, expanding the premium electrified Deepal lineup created in 2022 to meet rising demand for high-end, new-energy vehicles. The brand’s portfolio already includes the G318, S09, S07, S05, and L07.
The S07 will be offered in two variants: a fully electric version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). The EREV pairs a 258- or 272-hp electric motor with a small 1.5-liter, 98-hp gasoline engine. It can travel 140–186 miles on electric power alone and up to 547 miles in hybrid mode, averaging about 74.6 mpg.
The fully electric S07 uses a 272-hp motor and a 79.97-kWh lithium-ion battery, offering about 342 miles on a single charge. Fast charging significantly reduces downtime. Both versions are rear-wheel-drive with a single-speed transmission, accelerating to 60 mph in roughly 7.5–7.6 seconds.
Intelligent features are a highlight. The S07 comes equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS SE driver-assistance system, capable of automated lane changes, obstacle avoidance, cornering, speed control, and managing highway on/off-ramps. In the city, Urban LCC Plus provides lane-keeping, turn-signal-activated lane changes, traffic light recognition, and assistance with complex maneuvers.
The real breakthrough is its smart parking suite: it handles over 160 parking scenarios, offers multiple methods and camera angles, includes a memory function, and even supports remote parking—allowing the driver to step out while the S07 parks itself.
The S07’s launch is part of Deepal’s global expansion strategy. Changan plans to enter more than 100 markets across Southeast Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The model is already available in Germany, Norway, the UK, the Netherlands, and Denmark, with further European rollouts planned. The Deepal S07 underscores Changan’s commitment to blending sustainability, advanced tech, and comfort in the mid-size crossover segment.
