The new Alfa Romeo Junior might not be what diehard Alfisti fans dreamed of, but it's probably exactly what the ailing Italian brand needed - a resounding sales success, even if only locally.

It may be too early to draw a conclusion, but Alfa Romeo is very enthusiastic about its new entry-level Junior subcompact crossover SUV, produced in Poland. This model also sparked a major debate when it was launched and led to a radical name change. Apparently, Alfa may owe its current survival to the success of the new model, which attracted 50k orders during the first days when it went on sale.

Naturally, Alfa Romeo wants to keep up with the good momentum, especially since it doesn't have much else to show for – its Giulia and Stelvio, old as they may be, will soldier on for another couple of years, the Quadrifoglio models will also make a return, and Alfa has also abandoned the idea of developing larger vehicles, which might have been extremely well received in places like North America. As such, they're launching a new special series, dubbed exactly like that: 'Sport Speciale.'

The 2026 Alfa Romeo Junior lineup is spearheaded by the new Sport Speciale limited edition, which "blends elegance, sportiness, and cutting-edge technology," according to the company. It follows in the footsteps of the Intensa version, with the Junior Sport Speciale now serving as the poster child for the 2026 model year's lineup.

On the outside, the 2026 Alfa Romeo Junior Sport Speciale receives a glossy black body kit with silver inserts on the side skirts and bumpers, dedicated lower guards with dedicated finishes, 18-inch 'Fori' alloy wheels finished in dual-tone Matt Miron Diamond Cut, and exclusive Sport Speciale badges. Tinted rear windows and an optional dual-tone roof complete the package; the latter is available with all colors within the range.

Moving inside, the 2026 Alfa Romeo Junior Sport Speciale limited edition features heated and electrically adjustable seats, perforated Alcantara upholstery with "ice" inserts on the front seats, aluminum pedals and a kick plate, as well as ambient lighting, among other amenities. Additionally, customers can also order the Techno pack, which includes Level 2 autonomous driving, Matrix LED headlights, navigation system, wireless smartphone charging, and more.

Last but not least, the equipment list also has the Cargo Flex Kit, an optional panoramic sunroof, and a heated windshield, among other perks. The 2026 Alfa Romeo Junior Sport Speciale will be available to order with the 145-hp front-wheel-drive and Q4 all-wheel-drive hybrids, along with the 156-horsepower EV model. The new Alfa Romeo Junior Sport Speciale "is a model with a distinctive character, capable of strengthening the brand's sporty and premium identity, by making every journey an authentically Alfa Romeo driving experience," says the company.
