GMC is recalling 2025 Hummer EVs over a passenger airbag safety issue.
General Motors’ most powerful electric vehicle is facing a safety recall. The recall affects GMC Hummer EV pickups and SUVs produced between July 31, 2025, and October 24, 2025, due to incorrectly installed wiring.
The defect can interfere with the proper deployment of the front passenger airbag, putting occupants at risk in the event of a collision.
The problem stems from a manufacturing error at parts supplier Yazaki North America. In the summer of 2025, an automated press at the supplier’s plant shut down, causing errors in the production of harnesses that secure the wiring. As a result, these components may fail to ensure the airbag system functions correctly during a crash.
All affected Hummer EV owners will receive official notification from GMC. After receiving the notice, customers can take their vehicles to the nearest GMC dealership, where technicians will replace the defective harnesses with corrected components free of charge.
