New spy shots have surfaced showing a prototype of the fully electric Geely Galaxy A7 sedan undergoing road tests in China.

Currently, the Galaxy A7 is only available as a plug-in hybrid. The appearance of an all-electric prototype suggests that Geely is preparing to expand its lineup and enter the midsize electric sedan market.

Geely Galaxy A7: Design and Key Differences

The test car is heavily camouflaged, but its overall shape closely matches the plug-in hybrid version. The charging port has been relocated to the front right fender, setting it apart from the hybrid. The prototype also features low-drag wheels, hinting at an emphasis on aerodynamics typical for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).

It’s still unclear whether the electric model will include a front trunk, as the camouflage conceals the design of the front end.

Details about the powertrain have not been revealed. Observations of the visible sections of the chassis in the spy photos suggest a single-motor, front-wheel-drive setup, although this hasn’t been confirmed.

Geely has not made any official statements about the vehicle yet. For now, the road tests themselves are the only indication that development is underway.

Expected Specs and Features

The plug-in hybrid version provides the closest reference for size and equipment. It measures 4,918 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm.

Inside, the cabin is expected to feature a large rectangular central display—either 14.6 or 15.4 inches—along with a two-spoke steering wheel and a center console with physical buttons. Rear legroom may reach 132 mm. Top trims could offer ventilated, heated, and massaging seats, as well as a panoramic sunroof spanning 0.87 m². Which of these features will carry over to the electric version remains unknown.

Geely has not disclosed launch timing, technical specifications, or pricing for the upcoming electric model.

These developments reflect Geely’s strategic approach to expanding its electric lineup, offering consumers more tech-driven options. It’s clear that the automaker is pursuing a comprehensive strategy, marking an important step as the brand aims to strengthen its presence across multiple segments.
