Jeep Recalls More Than 11,000 Wagoneer S SUVs Over Loose Rear Liftgate Covers

Loose rear liftgate covers on certain Jeep Wagoneer S models may detach and create road hazards.

Jeep Recalls More Than 11,000 Wagoneer S SUVs Over Loose Rear Liftgate Covers

Jeep is recalling a batch of Wagoneer S SUVs after discovering an issue with the rear liftgate hinge covers. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these components may not have been secured correctly during assembly and could come loose while driving.

The recall affects up to 11,767 vehicles, which is a significant number of electric SUVs potentially leaving debris on the road. If a cover detaches, it could pose a risk to other drivers who might not see it in time.

Which Jeep Wagoneer S Models Are Affected?

The issue impacts model years from 2024 through 2026. Because of the problem, Jeep briefly paused sales while addressing the defect. The root cause appears to be hinge covers that weren’t fully clipped into place at the factory.

As a result, there’s a chance the covers could fall off when the vehicle is in motion. That’s obviously not ideal, especially if another driver ends up hitting one on the highway.

What Will Jeep Do To Fix The Problem?

Jeep already has a solution lined up. Owners of affected vehicles should contact their local dealership to set up a service appointment. The repair will likely involve properly securing the hinge covers, although exact details haven’t been fully outlined.

Importantly, the fix will be provided at no cost to owners.

Recalls are never great news, but this one appears fairly minor. While losing a hinge cover on the road would be frustrating, drivers might notice a slight rattl beforehand, giving some warning that somthing isn’t right.

Still, if your Wagoneer S is part of the recall, it’s a smart move to get it checked out as soon as posible.
