Honda Element Revival Previewed in First Renderings
The iconic Honda Element is reportedly on track for a comeback with hybrid power, retro-inspired styling, and factory camping features.
Late last month, fresh rumors surfaced that Honda is planning to revive its iconic boxy SUV, the Element. The next-generation model is expected to feature rugged styling, a hybrid powertrain, and factory-designed travel and camping solutions. Independent Latin American designer Kleber Silva, founder of KDesignAG, has now offered an early look at what it could become.
The Honda Element was built from 2002 through 2011 and quickly earned cult status thanks to its distinctive boxy styling, practical interior, and highly versatile cabin. It became especially popular with outdoor enthusiasts by combining a spacious body with capable light off-road performance.
According to overseas media reports, Honda may be preparing to bring the iconic crossover back to its lineup. The speculation stems from a patent application the company filed in 2024, along with information that has reportedly leaked to the media.
If the reports prove accurate, production of the new Honda Element could begin in 2028.
Based on the published renderings, the new Element would retain the signature boxy profile of its predecessor. Up front, it features a rectangular fascia with a full-width LED daytime running light bar stretching across the nose.

The lower portion of the front bumper is expected to use unpainted protective plastic cladding along with metal skid plate elements that emphasize the model's off-road character.
From the side, the vehicle retains its nearly vertical body lines, providing excellent visibility and making the most of the interior space. At the rear, the thick rear pillars stand out alongside taillights styled to match the front lighting signature.
According to preliminary information, the new Element would slot between the HR-V and CR-V, strengthening Honda's position in one of the most competitive compact crossover segments.
The interior is expected to receive a major modernization. Overseas insiders report a digital cabin layout, upgraded interior materials, and extensive flexibility for configuring the interior.
The vehicle could also gain a modular cargo management system and integrated roof rails for carrying additional gear.
Technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, but reports indicate the new Honda Element will be powered by a modern hybrid system. The setup is expected to significantly improve fuel economy, addressing one of the biggest shortcomings of the first-generation model that owners frequently criticized.

One of the most intriguing features of the upcoming model could be a factory camping package. According to Honda's previously published patent application, the vehicle may be equipped with a pop-up roof featuring a two-person rooftop tent.
In addition, the rear of the vehicle could house a slide-out camping module that unfolds into an additional tent. Such a setup would create space for cooking, relaxing, or entertaining guests while traveling.
