Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV Revealed: Up to 473 Miles of Range and 330-kW Fast Charging

A new all-electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class has unexpectedly appeared on the latest list of new energy vehicles eligible for local purchase tax incentives. The model is included in the 32nd edition of the catalog, effectively confirming that Mercedes-Benz will soon expand the lineup while also revealing some of the most notable details about the upcoming vehicle.

The EV is built on the dedicated MB.EA platform rather than an architecture adapted from conventionally powered models. It also uses an 800-volt electrical system, highlighting its modern engineering. The model features an air suspension, rear-wheel steering, the eATS 2.0 electric drive system, and a two-speed transmission. A long-wheelbase version developed for the local market is also expected to debut during 2026.

The exterior follows Mercedes-Benz's latest design language. The most prominent feature is the large front panel that replaces the traditional grille and incorporates an advanced lighting system. It includes 1,050 individual light elements capable of displaying different animated effects when the vehicle is unlocked, locked, or connected to a charger. The automaker has also added a 3.6-cubic-foot front trunk. The body adopts a coupe-like sedan profile with a sloping roofline, while subtly flared front and rear fenders give the car a wider appearance. According to industry observers, that design approach is clearly intended to appeal to younger buyers. The model measures either 196.0 or 196.5 inches long, 73.9 inches wide, and either 59.4 or 58.8 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 120.1 inches.

The interior also received significant attention. It features a new 39.1-inch-wide MBUX display. The screen uses matrix backlighting, offers approximately 10 million pixels, and provides independent brightness adjustment across individual display zones. The latest-generation MBUX infotainment system will also be included. In addition, the electric C-Class will be the first to offer an augmented reality head-up display, a feature previously associated primarily with the S-Class. The system projects key driving information and three-dimensional graphics directly onto the driver's view of the road.

The powertrain is equally impressive. The vehicle is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle. Combined output is rated at 360 kW, while peak torque reaches 435 lb-ft. The EV accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.0 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph. Two battery options are listed. One is an 89-kWh battery rated for up to 452 miles of range under the WLTC test cycle. The other is a ternary lithium 94-kWh battery that delivers up to 473 miles of range under the WLTP cycle. The vehicle also supports 330-kW DC fast charging. In that mode, it can add more than 202 miles of WLTP range in just 10 minutes, while charging from 10% to 80% takes only 22 minutes.
