2027 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4: Pricing, Engines, Off-Road Equipment and Features

The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 combines serious off-road hardware with a luxurious cabin and advanced technology.

2027 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4: Pricing, Engines, Off-Road Equipment and Features

The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 starts at $73,495, including the $2,795 destination charge, for a four-wheel-drive Crew Cab. That puts it above the $59,995 Sierra Elevation and below the $76,795 Denali and $85,495 AT4X.

The broader 2027 Sierra 1500 lineup starts at $51,295 for the Pro and reaches $87,895 for the Denali Ultimate. The listed prices apply to four-wheel-drive Crew Cab models and include destination; pricing for other cab, bed and package configurations varies.

The AT4 is positioned as an off-road-oriented truck with more comfort and technology than a basic utility-focused model. The AT4X takes the off-road concept further with additional trail hardware and a higher starting price.

GMC expects the first 2027 Sierra trucks to reach dealerships before the end of 2026.

A factory lift and 34-inch all-terrain tires

The Sierra 1500 AT4 comes with a two-inch factory lift, monotube shocks and 34-inch all-terrain tires. Optional 20-inch wheels are also available.

Its suspension retains the Sierra's independent front suspension and solid rear axle with leaf springs. The combination gives the AT4 a more substantial off-road setup than the standard road-focused versions without adding all of the specialized hardware found on the AT4X.

The exterior has also been redesigned for 2027, with a taller-looking grille, sharply defined bodywork and distinctive lighting at each corner. The AT4 uses dark front-end details that complement its raised stance.

Welcome and departure lighting animations and an illuminated GMC signature are available elsewhere in the Sierra lineup.

AT4 vs. AT4X

The AT4X starts at $85,495, or $12,000 more than the AT4. Its additional equipment is aimed more directly at demanding off-road use.

The AT4 comes with a two-inch lift, 34-inch all-terrain tires and monotube shocks. The AT4X upgrades to 35-inch mud-terrain tires and Multimatic dampers with new jounce-control hardware.

Unlike the AT4, the AT4X has electronic locking differentials at both the front and rear. It also gets a Baja mode that changes throttle, transmission, damper and stability-control settings for fast travel over loose terrain.

The AT4 uses the 5.7-liter V8 as standard and offers the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel. The AT4X starts with the diesel and also offers the 6.6-liter V8.

A later-arriving AT4X AEV Edition adds protective bumpers and skid plates, recovery hooks, black steps, beadlock-capable wheels and other AEV components.

The AT4 doesn't have the AT4X's specialized off-road equipment, but its lower starting price and combination of lift, tires, comfort features and technology place it between the regular Sierra trims and the more specialized AT4X.

Engine choices for the 2027 Sierra AT4

The AT4 offers two engines.

The standard engine is a new 5.7-liter V8 producing 402 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. An optional 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel produces 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft.

Both engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission and, according to GMC's specifications, a 3.23 axle ratio.

The new V8 belongs to GM's sixth-generation small-block family. It uses both port and direct fuel injection, along with a higher compression ratio, a larger throttle body and a revised intake manifold.

A roughly 34-gallon fuel tank is optional on the AT4. With that tank, GMC estimates that a diesel Sierra can travel more than 900 highway miles. EPA fuel-economy figures aren't yet available in the supplied information.

GMC also hasn't published an AT4-specific 0-to-60-mph time or top speed.

How the AT4 engines compare with other Sierra powertrains

The wider 2027 Sierra lineup provides additional engine choices, although not all are available on the AT4.

The Pro and Elevation start with an updated 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder producing 350 horsepower and 455 lb-ft. That's an increase of 40 horsepower and 25 lb-ft over the previous output cited in the source material.

The engine receives a new turbocharger, fuel-injection changes, updated thermal management and redesigned pistons.

A new 6.6-liter V8 produces 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft, but GMC reserves it for other trims, including the AT4X.

All four engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Towing depends on the exact configuration

GMC quotes a maximum 13,500-pound tow rating for a properly equipped 5.7-liter Sierra Double Cab with the Max Trailering Package.

A similarly equipped four-wheel-drive Crew Cab is rated for up to 13,300 pounds, while a four-wheel-drive diesel Crew Cab with the package reaches 12,100 pounds.

These are configuration-specific Sierra ratings, not guarantees for an AT4 with its lifted suspension and off-road tires.

Anyone planning to tow should check the rating for the exact truck, engine, drivetrain and package combination being ordered.

A more upscale AT4 cabin

Inside, the AT4 combines its off-road hardware with a substantially equipped cabin.

Standard features include heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats, dynamic ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

The MultiPro center console provides additional storage and an extended work surface. GMC says the Crew Cab has class-leading standard front headroom and legroom.

Additional configuration options include a utility wall, assist steps, a bed cover and an AT4 Premium accessory package.

Bed and MultiPro Tailgate updates

GMC has revised the available MultiPro Tailgate for 2027.

The updated tailgate adds a measuring ruler, four additional tie-down points and a different exterior panel.

The bed has 16 standard tie-down locations, separate from the additional tie-down points on the tailgate.

GMC claims class-leading cargo volume, although the supplied material doesn't provide a specific cargo-volume figure.

Displays and infotainment

The AT4 comes with a 16.3-inch center touchscreen, a 12.2-inch driver display and a head-up display.

GMC's new interface combines a configurable home screen and 3D vehicle views with shortcuts for navigation, media, off-road information and trailer functions. The driver display offers several layouts, including a Tow/Haul view.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work alongside the truck's built-in Google services, including Maps and Gemini voice features. Over-the-air updates are supported.

The optional Technology Package adds an 11.5-inch front-passenger entertainment screen with an articulating cover. Its polarized display is designed to help prevent the screen's content from distracting the driver.

Depending on equipment, the Sierra can also offer 5G connectivity, six USB ports, an HDMI connection and a 120-volt console outlet.

The AT4 includes two MagSafe wireless charging pads and an eight-speaker Bose audio system with a Richbass woofer.

Up to 19 camera views

Available camera equipment provides up to 19 views around the truck and trailer.

Available systems include Hitch View, a transparent-trailer perspective, Cabin Glance, a rear camera mirror and front and rear underbody cameras with washers.

The underbody cameras are optional on the AT4 rather than standard.

The Sierra also offers an in-vehicle Trailering App and mobile trailer-light checks. A Trailer Brake Gain Assistant is available as well.

These features cover practical towing tasks while the additional camera views provide visibility around the truck, trailer and surrounding terrain.

Super Cruise and driver-assistance features

Super Cruise is standard on the AT4 and supports hands-free driving with a trailer on compatible roads.

GMC includes three years of its OnStar One plan. Automatic and turn-signal-initiated lane changes are available when conditions permit, although neither function works while trailering.

Adaptive cruise control is standard. The new interface lets the driver activate either adaptive cruise control or Super Cruise with one tap.

The standard safety equipment includes:

  • Intersection and reverse automatic emergency braking
  • Front pedestrian and bicyclist braking
  • Side bicyclist alert
  • Rear pedestrian alert
  • Forward collision warning
  • Blind-zone steering assistance
  • Rear cross-traffic braking
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Automatic high beams
  • Safety Alert Seat
  • HD rearview camera

These systems are intended to assist an attentive driver rather than replace the driver's attention and control.

Where the AT4 fits in the 2027 Sierra lineup

The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 lineup starts at $51,295 for the Pro and extends to $87,895 for the Denali Ultimate.

The Elevation starts at $59,995, while the road-oriented Denali starts at $76,795. The AT4 sits at $73,495, with the AT4X starting at $85,495.

All of those listed prices apply to four-wheel-drive Crew Cab models and include destination. Other cab, bed and package configurations have different pricing.

The first 2027 Sierra trucks are expected to arrive at dealerships before the end of 2026.

What the Sierra 1500 AT4 offers

The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 combines a factory two-inch lift, 34-inch all-terrain tires and monotube shocks with a cabin equipped with ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, multiple displays and standard Super Cruise.

Its engine lineup consists of the new 5.7-liter V8 and optional 3.0-liter Duramax diesel, while its available camera and trailering technology adds functions aimed at towing and off-road driving.

The AT4X adds more specialized equipment, including 35-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic dampers, electronic front and rear locking differentials and Baja mode. The AT4 instead occupies a lower-priced position while retaining substantial off-road hardware and a highly equipped interior.

For towing, the most important qualification is that GMC's published maximum ratings are configuration-specific. The 13,500-pound maximum applies to a properly equipped 5.7-liter Sierra Double Cab, while the listed four-wheel-drive Crew Cab and diesel figures are lower. The exact rating should therefore be verified for the specific AT4 configuration being considered.
