The car is announced as a prototype for a future production model
During the 24-hour race at Japan's Fuji Speedway, Subaru released a teaser for a new WRX model, once again rekindling hope for the return of the WRX STi. Subaru's Chief Engineer Tetsuo Fujinuki stated that the new Performance model prototype will be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. Subaru WRX - 2022
The teaser image, presented parallel to the announcement, only partly allows an assessment of possible changes compared to the current WRX. Expanded wheel arches, a hood scoop, and a notably enlarged front spoiler are visible. The rear remains a mystery. The roofline appears to be extended compared to the known sedan version. Possibly, this WRX modification will have a hatchback or fastback body. Unfortunately, details are being kept under wraps for now.
As we mentioned earlier, additional details about the new WRX prototype will be revealed later this year, Subaru claims.
