More Than a Tune-Up: Mercedes-AMG G 63 Turned Into a Rocket on Wheels

Brabus unveils the 900-horsepower XLP pickup based on the Mercedes-AMG G 63

More Than a Tune-Up: Mercedes-AMG G 63 Turned Into a Rocket on Wheels

Brabus has once again made it clear that “too far” simply isn’t part of its vocabulary. The Brabus 900 XLP is a heavily reworked Mercedes-AMG G 63, transformed into a true pickup truck with extreme off-road capability and a level of luxury usually reserved for high-end SUVs. Production will be limited to just 10 units, instantly putting the model in collector territory.

Compared with a standard G-Class, the XLP version features a stretched frame, an open cargo bed, portal axles, a lifted suspension, off-road tires, and a winch. This isn’t just a visual exercise—the truck is built for serious terrain. The look is rounded out by additional lighting, an expedition-style roof rack, and power-deployable side steps with integrated lighting.

The exterior is finished in a restrained gray shade, contrasted by black and red accents. Carbon fiber is everywhere, from the hood to various aerodynamic elements. Inside, the same theme continues: signature Brabus leather with contrasting stitching, red highlights, carbon trim, and the full comfort package you’d expect from Mercedes, including a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and power seats with memory.

Under the hood sits a thoroughly reengineered V8. Displacement has been increased to 4.5 liters, paired with new turbochargers and upgraded internals. The result is 887 horsepower and 922 lb-ft of torque. Despite its size and hardcore off-road hardware, the Brabus 900 XLP can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph.

Previous Brabus projects of this caliber have carried price tags north of $800,000, and the current example listed at an online auction is unlikely to be any different. This is less a vehicle and more a rolling statement of Brabus’ engineering prowess and brand image.

The Brabus 900 XLP stands as a rare example of tuning done right—where extreme power, real-world capability, and luxury don’t clash, but instead come together to turn the G 63 into a no-compromise machine unlike anything else on the road.
