The R 1300 GS challenges conventional thinking in the adventure segment. Rather than following incremental updates, BMW engineers developed a bike that redefines what a large-displacement ADV machine can be.
At the heart of the “GS” is its signature horizontally opposed boxer engine with protruding cylinders, giving it a recognizable look while improving balance. An optional Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) replaces the clutch lever with electronic control. Riders can choose between a semi-automatic mode with foot shifting or a fully automatic mode where the bike selects gears on its own, maximizing comfort on long rides.
