Suzuki has unveiled a one-off Jimny concept inspired by Queensland's iconic rugby team, leaving production up to local fans.
Suzuki's distributor in Australia's state of Queensland has introduced a unique Jimny Maroon Edition concept, celebrating local pride with a color scheme inspired by the state's legendary Queensland Maroons rugby team. The special build arrives shortly after the Maroons fell short in the deciding game of the annual State of Origin series, serving as a symbolic show of support for Queensland fans.
The prototype is based on a standard three-door Suzuki Jimny equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission. Instead of mechanical upgrades, the SUV receives a full burgundy vinyl wrap, white racing stripes, and exclusive Jimny Rhino Maroon Edition badges on the exterior. Matching emblems also appear inside the cabin.
The interior isn't quite finished yet. Later this month, Australian customization shop WFC Oz will add leather upholstery with burgundy stitching and matching piping to complete the theme.
Rather than sending the vehicle directly into production, Suzuki is taking it on a statewide tour. From July 10 through September 5, the Maroon Edition will visit dealerships across Queensland, where customers will be invited to share their opinions on whether the special edition deserves a production run.
According to Suzuki, the project was designed to reflect Queensland's unique identity and spark a conversation about the kinds of vehicles local buyers would like to see offered in the future.
Pricing hasn't been announced because the model remains a concept. For reference, a standard three-door Jimny with the automatic transmission starts at about $27,000 USD in Queensland, while the entry-level Jimny Lite with a manual gearbox is priced from roughly $24,000 USD.
Whether the Maroon Edition ever reaches showrooms will depend less on engineering and more on customer demand. Since the changes are purely cosmetic, the concept is aimed primarily at Queensland residents and Maroons supporters rather than buyers looking for improved off-road capability. If enough visitors respond positively during the dealership tour, Suzuki could decide to put the limited-edition Jimny into production.
